Question / Help Multi Line Center Text issue?

Hi all,

Think I posted this in the wrong spot before...

Been using OBS for a couple months now. Love it, and these forums have been super helpful.

I have a question about adding text to a scene. I can't seem to get multi-line text to be center aligned. It's always left aligned. I'd expect each line to be centered relative to the other lines, but within the text box it's always left aligned. I tried going in and editing the transform, and putting the alignment within the box to center, and it still doesn't work. I also tried selecting "Wrap Mode" for the text (or something to that effect) per another forum post suggestion, but that didn't work either.

Is this a bug on Macs or am I missing something?

As an aside, I've also noticed the latest version of OBS in MacOS doesn't have a "Fade to Black" option, unlike the Windows version. So I had to create a Black screen scene and fade to that at the end of a video. Unless I'm missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance.

I ran into the same issue on macOS with FreeType 2 text alignment, so I’ve made a small free plugin that adds proper alignment and shows up as Text (Fixed).

I’ve posted it in a new thread with download and install steps. If you still need this, feel free to check it out and give it a try :)

Mac OS Text Allignement Fix

I ran into this same headache recently! It’s super annoying that 'Center' doesn't just work out of the box for multiple lines.
One trick that usually fixes it is to enable 'Use Custom Text Extents' and then make sure 'Wrap' is checked. Once those are on, the alignment settings (Center/Right) actually start behaving properly within the box you’ve defined.
If that still looks a bit 'off-center' (which happens sometimes with certain fonts), you might also want to right-click the source, go to Transform > Edit Transform, and set the 'Alignment in Bounding Box' to Center there as well.
