Question / Help Multi-computer audio setup

Hi,

I’m routing audio and video between a Mac and PC and I currently have an audio interface connected to the Mac. Is it necessary to use an audio interface to connect the pc to the audio interface connected to my Mac? Or can I just use something like a USB wire (or some other kind of wire) to send the audio between the Mac and PC without dealing with the extra expense and clutter of an additional audio interface? The solution would need to be capable of routing the audio between a DAW like ableton and OBS.

Thanks,
Dan

You can't send audio just by connecting the USB ports of two PCs with a USB cable, if that's what you're asking.

I'm not quite clear on your use case, though, could you explain more?

If you're trying to send multichannel audio from a DAW from one machine to another, you probably do need a hardware interface.

If you're just sending something simple, like a 2 channel final mix, you could probably use NDI to send that audio over the network.
