Hi there,

So when I use the normal OBS I get an mp4 file that also provides me with a image when I look at this file inside a folder and I can use these files in Sony vegas pro to edit.

On OBS Studio, it doesnt show me an image of the footage when I look at the mp4 file in the folder.
Also its completely empty when I place it in sony vegas pro. These is no screen footage and no audio.

I have all the drivers on the computer for me to open and see all the video formats. The weard thing is when I open the mp4 file that I made with Studio OBS with WMP player I can see the footage and hear the audio.

Has anyone had this same issue?

Don't save directly to mp4, save to flv and remux.

Also, try using openshot to edit instead of vegas.

@ Harold: Thanks for your respons, but with all do respect, this to me seems a work around and not solving the problem.
Also dont know openshot that good, and I dont think it has all the options sony has, so it hardly seems to me a good solution or option. I can use mp4 perfectly fine when recoring with OBS normal so I should be able to expect to be able to use this option with OBS Studio.

@ Suslik: ill do that now see what the diffrences are.
Here is a screenshot.of both files, i dont see much diffrence so, Both video AVC And audio ACC.

I just did a quick test for you as I have been using Sony Vegas with OBS recording files for ages. I can confirm that it's the Settings, Advanced, Color Format that is causing the problem. If I have this set to I444 I get exactly the same behaviour as you see i.e. No video when opening in Sony Vegas. If I set it back to NV12 and do another recording that opens in Sony Vegas no problem.

I love Sony Vegas as an application but I run into this kind of thing again and again where Vegas won't open certain files. The file opens fine in VLC with Color Format set to I444 and so I have to assume that this is a limitation in Vegas :-(

@ Adrian: Thanks for this, this is what i call a solution! Maybe we should get OBS to make this in to a FAQ. As I am sure more people are using the combination OBS Studio & Sony Vegas.

Kind regards!

The decoder Sony Vegas/WMPlayer does not play the video Profile: High 4:4:4
also does not play video "NV12/I420 lossless" (OBS includes profile High 4:4:4)
In Adobe Premiere video High 4:4:4 work well

Can I change decoder in the Sony Vegas?

As far as I can tell this is a limitation of Sony Vegas, you'd be better off asking on a Vegas forum like creativecow than here. One thing I will say is that Vegas (at least version 12) does support NV12 which is the default color format that OBS uses. Window Media Player should also display this although you will have problems with audio.
