Question / Help Morrowind Recording Issues

I've been trying to record gameplay of Morrowind with OBS and whenever I play the video back, the gameplay is kind of choppy. It's choppy to where things (like the terrain itself) disappear and reappear and it's headache inducing to watch. The framerate itself seems to be just fine for me, but the graphics are disappearing and reappearing. I've tried some things like changing the resolution and such but it's not helping. I cannot see this effect while playing the game and recording. It's only when I play the video back where I'd see this.

This is the only game of mine that has this problem and it's not only OBS that does this. I used other recording software before, when starting out, and it yielded the exact same result. If someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Difficult to tell how you start and record Morrowind, since you either use monitor capture or you use window capture for dosbox.exe. Are you starting Morrowind from within dosbox? You can install and run Morrowind natively under Windows and use the game capture source for recording.
To further lessen the stress of the recording process, in OBS Settings->Video set the fps to 30 instead of 60.

As a former Morrowind enthusiast player (actually, Morrowind was what brought me to video gaming), I just grabbed my old CDs and installed on my Windows 10 64-bit machine. Lo and behold, recording with OBS studio just works and without any graphics glitches in the video. I used the most far view allowed by the ingame settings, for this test I did not install any external mod that may allow larger FOV.

Use game capture. Windowed or fullscreen, both will work. It's a directx8 game, but OBS recognizes it fine.
As highest resolution I was offered 1920x1440 and 1600x900, both work fine. I don't know if one can make Morrowind run with a 16:9 ratio, but this is left as exercise to the reader (will probably not work fine due to the game engine not being familiar with that aspect ratio).
