Question / Help Monitor capture vs game capture or window capture

I just read that there are issues when screen capturing (I'm not blaming OBS, mind you).
Is it generally recommended to use Game Capture over Window Capture over Screen Capture in this order?
And most importantly: would it free up resources when I avoid Screen Capture altogether, or what would be the advantages?

As I understand, to display desktop, system uses a lot of "add", "alpha" and "hw overlay". When application is in fullscreen mode, only its frame in video memory needs to be captured (no need to update all applications, compose windows, fill overlays and only then capture the frame). Also, better to avoid Multi-adapter Compatibility option, if possible.

Thanks I will look into using game capture. I was using Screen Capture as default because I had problems with some games and setup a borderless fullscreen window setup and captured that screen to avoid trouble. But I noticed a performance drop (this might have other reasons though).

game capture - always preferred for fullscreen games, fastest and most efficient
window capture - if you want to grab an old windowed game that doesnt work well in fullscreen with 1st option, or for example only one window of some program, may be slow for windowed borderless games that work well in fullscreen
display - just grabs your desktop with everything on it, can be slow with games

Wow, capturing the game (in this case Fallout 4) directly, my input lag is totally fixed. Never before did my mouse input and gameplay feel more snappy!
It changed nothing about fps though, but I didn't really expect that.

I know this was in 2016 but tbh i find Display cap to be better it does not make your games look slower on stream and a thing i noticed is that when i do stream with game capture fast movement makes my camera start to blur and makes the game like little squares during high combat but again every one has their go to but for me display is the best and works the best for me

I had a problem today using game capture. For some reason it was capturing weird stutters that weren't in the game as I was playing it. Only in the video was it showing. I changed to display capture, boom, gone. So sometimes it is better I guess.
