Monitor Audio from Techigher USB video source

I don't hear audio when playing from the Techigher USB device that's connected to a VCR using analog audio and video inputs. I do have both audio and video when playing back the file. Is there a way to montior audio along with video before/during reording?

I saw this from another post "What I understand is the need for monitoring audio from a source which is not yet Live/on Program -
and possibly is on preview. I dont think this is possible natively in OBS.'

It goes on to mention a plug in may be required. Is that in fact the case? I'm using OBS Studio 31.1.12.
 
I connected a headset with a receiver element from a telephone isolated with a capacitor to one of the channels. The .5v audio level is more than adequate, I may reduce it a bit.
