MKV nowhere to be found after sudden shut down

I was recording my screen (I use MKV format), and my computer shutdown suddenly due to low battery. After turning the computer on, I can't find the recording file at my usual output destination (which is my desktop).

I've seen a lot of advice of using MKV, FLV to prevent corrupted files, however, my file doesn't even show up (sad).

Do you have any potential advice/solution for this problem?

Thank you for your help in advance, I appreciate your support very much!

If the computer went off due to power loss, it might be Windows wasn't able to shutdown gracefully. In this case, it's possible the filesystem is corrupted and Windows repairs it at booting up. Filesystem metadata for files that are being written to at the time of power loss might be damaged, and Windows might have not been able to restore that data, so it wasn't able to restore a file. In this case, the file is lost. You can prepare for this by making sure the power supply is stable while recording.

Be happy. Only one file was lost. It could have been worse.

Thank you for your suggestion! Yeah, luckily my older files are still there; next time I'll pay more attention to the power supply, koala.
