Minecraft Lags when recording with OBS

The laptop I'm using is not that good but I want to know if there's still a way to fix this. Minecraft lags a lot when I record it using OBS, for example, mobs move slowly and I have trouble loading a crossbow or eating food. I see it's been a while since this was posted, but I'm curious—has anyone tried running OBS as administrator or changing the process priority in Task Manager? I noticed a big drop in lag when I bumped OBS to "high" and set Minecraft to "below normal." Also wondering if capping Minecraft's FPS helped anyone here or just made things worse?

I had the same issue and realized my settings were pushing my GPU too hard, especially with shaders. Lowering render distance a bit and capping FPS helped. Also, I found some optimized shader packs on minecraftshader.com that run better during recording without killing performance.
