Question / Help Microphone to Mono Windows 10

Hello,

My computer upgraded itself to Windows 10 the other night and everything is going well except I noticed that my videos are now recording audio differently than before. I had it setup to record audio on 3 stereo tracks:

1) Mic (sent as mono to both sides) and stereo game sounds.
2) Mic by itself sent mono to both sides
3) Game sounds in stereo by themselves

I used channel #1 as streaming sound for simplicity and the other 2 when doing local recordings so I had some flexibility in post to add stuff like compression and EQ if needed.

My Problem:
I recorded an LP earlier and when I went back to edit the footage I found that my microphone audio was only n the left channel and game sounds were in the right channel on all 3 presets! (Game sounds weren't recorded on #2, just mic but it was still only in the left ear). I can make duplicates of the audio, pan it left and right to force it to sound mono as a temporary fix but I need to know what happened so I can fix it properly for next time.

There used to be a "force mic to mono" check box that I can't seem to locate either right now.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Please let me know if you need any more information. Thanks!

Go to the Edit Menu and Choose Advanced Audio Properties, on the line for your Mic choose Downmix to Mono.

I don't really know what this has to do with Windows 10 but lately (since I upgraded) I have had inconsistent Audio configuration and have to keep reconfiguring things, including this check box :-(

That was it, thanks! The mic was being sent to all 4 channels instead of just 1 and 2 and wasn't set to mono. When I upgraded it also took away my gate and gain settings as well which was weird. All good now though. :D
