Hello,
I've been trying to solve an issue with random "crackling noises" coming from my microphone audio for weeks now. At first I thought it was the microphone itself that was the problem, but what it ended up being is a bug with how the Video Capture Device source handles high resolution sources.
I have a capture card that can only display content at its native resolution it cannot be downscaled via a custom resolution. Whenever this capture card source is active I'll get random skipping or crackling noises coming from my microphone audio. I'm not a programmer by any means so there's probably more to it but I can only assume OBS Studio isn't able to handle the high resolution/bitrate signal coming from the card which results in the issues I'm having with my microphone. The capture card is an Avermedia Live Gamer Extreme, and the microphone setup is an Audio Technica AT2020 hooked up to a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.
I've seen some people post similar issues with webcams when they are outputting a 1080p signal, and there hasn't been fix posted yet to my knowledge.
Hope this bug report helps the development of OBS Studio in someway, and thank you for taking the time to read this post!
If anyone has any suggestions for possible fixes that'd be extremely helpful! This issue is extremely frustrating.
