OBS Version: 30.1.2 OS: Windows 11 (22H2)
Mic Device: Fifine Microphone (USB)
Scene Setup: Modular overlays with avatar-driven pacing and immersive branding (VseeFace)
Issue Summary: During a recent recording session, OBS unexpectedly switched my mic source mid-recording. I had manually added my mic via Audio Input Capture and confirmed it was active in the scene. Midway through, OBS defaulted to a different input or dropped the mic entirely—causing audio loss and breaking my overlay pacing.
What I’ve Tried:
Log File:
WASAPI: Device 'Microphone (fifine Microphone)' failed to start
WASAPI: Device 'Headset Microphone (Arctis 7 Chat)' initialized
WASAPI: Device 'Headset Microphone (Arctis 7 Chat)' invalidated. Retrying...
WASAPI: Default output device changed
Device 'Headset Earphone (Arctis 7 Chat)' invalidated. Retrying...
warning: Could not update timestamps for skipped samples
OBS also crashed today and this messaged showed up:
OBS crashed: Unhandled exception: 80000003 Date/Time: 2025-09-13, 11:33:47 Fault address: 7FFC97C3FB20 (c:\program files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit\libcef.dll) libobs version: 31.1.2 (64-bit) Windows version: 10.0 build 26100 (release: 24H2; revision: 6584; 64-bit) CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900HX
I am not able to add the scripts as I restarted OBS and they are no longer showing.
This issue only began after the most recent Windows update (possibly KB5065426), which may have affected WASAPI device handling or OBS plugin stability. Happy to provide additional logs, screenshots, or test scenarios if needed. I’d really appreciate any insight into whether this is a known issue or if there’s a workaround.

What I’ve Tried:
- Recreated profile and scene collection
- Re-added mic as Audio Input Capture
- Verified mic is active in scene and mixer
