Question / Help Mic not registering in OBS on new build

Hi hoping someone could help with a weird one!
I've built a new PC to use purely as a stream box for my xbox one

When setting everything back up on OBS, it doesn't seem to register my mic. My mic and camera are on different sources.

It let's me select the mic from the drop down list when I add audio input source. It's also registering my voice when I go to settings in Windows

The weirdest thing is my voice is picked up for the very first 5 seconds that OBS is open (the green bar at the bottom moves etc). Then as soon as stream elements finishes loading chat etc, my voice doesn't seem to be picked up anymore

I'm not at home at the moment to get a log but if no one can work it out by the time I get home, I'll upload a log later

May have narrowed it down a bit further. Reinstalled OBS and the mic was working, but now the sound from the mic immediately disappears as soon as I add the Elgato as a source

Any help you can give me would be hugely appreciated!!!!

Check that you have driver exclusivity turned off for your audio devices in windows sound settings?

Verify this: Windows Settings -> Privacy -> Microphone (left menu) - "Allow apps to access your microphone"

If that isn't the issue, then in OBS, create a new scene collection and add your mic, then each source progressively (do NOT add browser sources for this part of the test). Do you still have the issue with this method?

Besides that, you have a ridiculous amount of browser chatter in the logs that may or may not be relevant... either way, it is nearly impossible to pinpoint the important information in there.

Late last night I tried changing the USB port and it's been fine since! It's weird because I had already moved it to 3 different USB ports before....weird!

What exactly do you mean by browser chatter exactly and is this something I should look into rectifying? At this point I want to make it as good an experience as possible

It's nothing that is necessarily wrong -- it's just the browser sources being very verbose in the logs. Nothing to worry about for normal operation in OBS.

Ahh good stuff! Touch wood all has been all has been ok since

I'm just happy I had a 4th spare USB port after I'd tried the first 3
