Question / Help Mic is still picking up voice and background when muted

So I had noticed that when I record/broadcast my microphone sounded rough and picking up background noise. I looked up tutorials and videos on how to fix it using the Noise Gate and Noise Suppression filters in audio settings. As I was adding the filters (specifically the Noise Gate) my mic would not be turning green in the mixer but somehow I was still hearing background noise and my voice.

In looking for a solution I saw that disabling my webcam's mic in sound settings should have fixed it but it hasn't. With just my main microphone enabled in my settings I STILL get audio from my mic, even when OBS is showing that it's not picking it up.

Last recording log included. Thanks and I appreciate any advice or ideas ahead of time!

Try this:

In Settings > Audio, disable ALL devices.

In your scene, add audio devices individually, one at a time, and make sure they work and that they are only picking up sound when they are enabled.

Check Settings > Advanced and see what your audio monitoring device is set to; make sure you're not setting audio devices to monitor on an input you've trying to record or you'll get feedback.

Ok I disabled all but I'm not entirely sure how to get my desktop audio to work? That did fix my mic bleed issue but now I have no audio from whatever game I am playing.

Add an Audio Output Capture then select your Desktop device.

What I usually do for this is create a scene only for audio devices

I then add that Audio scene to the main scenes I want those devices active. You do this by adding a Scene Source and selecting the Audio Scene.

Now my Gaming scene has the audio devices from the "Audio" Scene

What this allows me to do is have a Scene for my VR headset, that only has my Oculus Headphones and Mic as audio sources, all my other scenes will use my normal Headphones and Mic from the audio Scene

Yep, think that solved it! I think I had forgotten how to add my desktop audio as a source. But it's much much better now, I appreciate everybody's help!
