Mic Delay in monitoring

Hello all,

Good day!

I have been struggling to find a solution to my problem. I am a small start up content creator and sometimes I would like to go live on Facebook or YouTube and do some song covers. The best audio quality after testing multiple methods is just through OBS. But my problem is the delay I get when enabling the monitoring feature (Monitor Only Mute Output). I need to hear my self singing with the Filters I added (EQ, Compressor, Reverb etc) to be able to sing well. My problem is that I hear some delay back to my headphones and it makes it really hard to sing to my backing track. I would appreciate if someone can shed some light on how to get around this problem. Thank you so much in advance.

You are victim of the usual delays between your sound hardware and OBS as any software in the computer. The delay are caused by driver delay and HW and Software buffering.

If you really need all the filters and effects stuff you will need to change over to an real outboard stuff like a sophisticated sound mixing board with effects and so called *direct monitoring*. Your playback should be routed thru this external Sound mixer too. Then both signals ( playback and your final voice) enter together the computer. (Hence synchronized)

Then don't use the monitor function of OBS.Use the phones output of the mixing desk instead and just have a look for the final levels in OBS.
