Question / Help Mic/Aux getting no signal

Hi, I've just started using OBS yesterday on OSX 10.13 and I'm really satisfied with the experience compared to the other Mac solutions!
One single problem though: I can't get my mic working.
Where I'm at:
I got a Shure SM58 plugged into a Fireface UC sound card, which works for all my other sound apps. Right input, good gain setup, this part I'm used to.
I think it worked in OBS at some point yesterday, but then I tried to get my system audio going too and installed WavTap which didn't work, SoundFlower which didn't work either and finally got it working with iShowU.
But through this process I lost the Mic signal and now I can't get it back. Tried to change a lot of audio settings, didn't help.

Would anyone have a clue?

More information:
At the moment I'm able to capture system audio through an audio input capture and by selecting iShowU, but the preference option "desktop audio device" doesn't allow me to select iShowU. Not a big deal since it works otherwise, but worth noticing.

Opposite experience with the mic setup: since I'm not able to use the one connected to my sound card (*for now), I'm temporarily settling for the webcam mic. Setting it up in both "Mic/Aux audio device" in preferences and an audio input capture, but only works in the preference source this time.

HELP! I want to be using OBS but for now only my Gameshow setup works fully :(
