Messed Up Recording Settings

So I keep messing up my recording settings, because for a while, I was recording my desktop audio (sometimes through headset, sometimes through my TV) and microphone (from headset) on the same track. I eventually figured out how to separate the tracks, but realized after a while that my microphone track was still picking up the dekstop audio to a degree. So I tried fixing that by making the tracks fully separate, making sure they were enabled, etc, and even tried making specific audio sources, but now obs won't record my audio at all. It shows the mixer picking it up, but the actual recording comes out with no audio. Can somebody help me figure out the right settings? Like if I were to set my stuff to Default, then walk me through what to do basically.

Something that not everyone thinks of is *acoustic* feedback, where the mic picks up a speaker through the air, and then the speaker's content is in the mic channel.
