Hi. First post.
Im trying to capture video in a program, but when I click on File, Edit, View or any other menu item the dropdown is not being recorded. It shows the mouse moving where the dropdown should be, though. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, Window capture is only able to capture the main window of an app. No menus, no additional dialog windows. If you need to record that, you need to use display capture.

You can add a crop filter to a source, and you can use a keyboard command to resize and crop, if that's what you mean.

I think you hold ALT and click drag on the source to do this. At least that's how it was in Classic.

Im trying to use Display Capture and I select Display 1, but OBS is showing a black screen and not what is on the actual screen?

Yes, I am on a laptop. Okay I made those setting changes in nVidia, but now when I double-click on display capture, the preview shows in the small window, but not in the main window?

Double-clicking the source is opening the Properties pane for the source. It wants you to choose which display to use. If you're choosing and hitting OK in that window and it still doesn't show, then post a logfile.

WIndows is out of date. You should update. This version has a broken feature that negatively impacts OBS.

You have a laptop with discrete (Nvidia) and integrated (Intel) GPUs.

In order to perform a Display capture you need for OBS to be running on the Intel adapter because that one is in control of the laptop screen.

Laptop? Black screen when capturing? Read here first.

I am having trouble with capturing menu actions too.
My deskktop computer is a Lenovo ThinkCentre and it doesn't work. Should I be looking for a display adaptor setting?
It work on my Lenovo ThinkCentre laptop. After thought after no working on Desktop.

I am also having trouble with this on my Desktop Lenovo ThinkCentre Windows 10, but works on my Lenovo ThinkCentre Desktop Windows 11. The Display capture preview shows the Menu Actions during capture but not when viewing the recording.

I purchased other software which works but hoped to use OBS.
