Will turn on OBS then all of a sudden audio will randomly start crackling and popping in and out. What does max audio buffering reached mean and how can I fix it?

I have a similar problem, if I use a file source then the audio is perfect but when I switch to a Blackmagic SDI decklink source the audio is crackly and out of sync, a stop/start streaming fixes it temporarily.

The audio monitoring of the SDI from the computer headphones output is ok. I see max audio buffering messages in the log.

04:01:44.736: ==== Streaming Start ===============================================
04:10:47.658: adding 21 milliseconds of audio buffering, total audio buffering is now 42 milliseconds
04:11:13.077: Max audio buffering reached!
04:11:13.077: adding 917 milliseconds of audio buffering, total audio buffering is now 960 milliseconds
