I remember 2011 when people called a local radio show complaining that if the 2012 Super Bowl were to be in 3D that many people in the old world suburb to Cleveland of Parma Ohio would write letters to the NFL.
The main reason they hate it is that because it's 3D but because in order to make the broadcast 3D with the technology you had then you would ruin it for 2D viewing by having two pictures side by side stretched out twice as tall.
If someone put on their UHF TV and found that the Super Bowl had double the pictures and half the width on each one, baby calling the local television station saying that their TV is broke or their broadcast is broke.
Fall of 2011 is when 3D hatred started to be in Vogue.
From that point on My philosophy was if you do not step on other people's toes they will not get hurt.
Don't be surround sound is in every DVD but the people in Parma (according to the stereotype) don't notice that they're missing surround sound because they're normal TV just simply works by putting in the disc and playing it. (At least those who haven't exchanged their VHS machine and collection yet.)
I suggest that there should be a 3D converter built into the twitch website. This was simultaneously do two things.
Two people who don't have 3D or choose not to partake it'll default to 2D if you have 3D content and will have a tab saying "3D options"
And for those who either want to broadcast or watch others in 3D there's many different formats, and no way to life convert it in less than a second, at least not directly on Twitch. You just need to know what format the broadcaster is broadcasting in. (Sometimes I use 32x9 side by side full, others use 16x9 side by side half, still others use red and cyan antaglyph. Some people prefer horizontal resolution and want to use 16x18 top and bottom half. People who played the Sega Scope 3D might want alternate frames.)
The first option is always 2D the second option is whatever it's being broadcast in for the least delay and then all the other options are there to convert one format into another so that you do not have to conform your format to the viewers nor the viewers to the broadcasters.
By the way I tried writing to Twitch and their user voice is no longer being used so I don't know how to give this suggestion to Twitch so I'm kind of giving it to OBS project.com kind of indirectly.
Just out of curiosity does anyone know how to stretch a 32x9 side by side full into 16x9 side by side half width using Android SLOBS, because there is no native OBS for Android?
