Making headset mic sound better..

Hello all,
I’ve been in the process of trying to help my son make his gaming reaction/review videos. For Christmas I bought him a Logitech G332 headset. I’m having an impossible time getting our voices to sound decent in OBS studio. First our voice recording was only playing back on one side of the headset. I read that you had to select mix to Mono to fix that problem. Kind of weird as I thought they boom mic would record in stereo? So it seems I got that fixed but then the voice audio was so staticky on playback of our recorded videos. I’ve tried using a bunch of the OBS filters...noise gate, compressor, etc etc. seems like we got rid of a lot of the static, but the recordings still sound weird on playback. Almost like an underwater, swirly type noise you can hear. I don’t understand what’s going on. Is the mic on this headset just terrible or do I still have incorrect settings maybe?

Well...I switched my audio input source to the mics in the Logitech c920 webcam and that sounds 100x better than what I’m getting out of the g332 headset mic. I’m not sure if my headset mic is just busted or what but I’m shocked at how bad the recording quality is on it. The Logitech webcam mics aren’t picking up a ton of static like the book mic is. I don’t get it...but it doesn’t seem to be a huge deal to just use the webcam mics for now. Maybe I’ll invest in a Yeti microphone or something
