I have been one of many newbies on here who have had no audio issues when launching OBS on Mac, no lovely green flashes, nothing.
After much wailing and gnashing of teeth I finally twigged that you need to go into Mac Security and Privacy, click the privacy tab and make sure OBS is checked. Really easy if you are told that's what you need to do.
I never saw it in the set up guide though so hope this helps a few people like me who now feels quite foolish and smug at the same time.
