Maiden Voyage

I have been watching Kevin Stratvert’s tutorial for beginners - How to use OBS for Screen Recording or Streaming. I am about to make my maiden voyage. I plan to read a prayer I composed while Rhapsody in Blue plays in the background and stream the output to YouTube, advice is welcome.

So far I have followed Kevin`s instructions and created a scene. I assigned the name of my prayer to the scene, Don`t Despair Say a Prayer. I added resources to the scene for Display Capture, Audio Input Capture, Audio Output Capture, and Video Capture. Kevin`s tutorial gave very clear instructions about how to use Video Capture to position a small window where a commentator can be shown talking about what is on the main screen. I have practiced using these procedures.

I plan to play a video of Rhapsody in Blue which I found on YouTube. While the video plays I intend to be visible in a small window and read my prayer. I have practiced saving screen recordings to my hard drive and I have changed the file format before replaying them. I have not yet played a video in OBS. Should I download Rhapsody in Blue to my computer and then replay it in ODS or play it In OBS while it plays on YouTube? Can I simultaneously save and stream a screen recording? I haven’t streamed anything yet. I am enjoying getting started with OBS and look forward to hearing from you

Most important issue may be a take down notice for copyright infringement (ie auto block of your video)
- so - before going further, I recommend researching copyright issue related to streaming
Technically, yes better to have locally and not be depending on Internet to both download and upload content at same time (you are just adding an extra potential failure point)
Yes, you can (I do) record and stream at same time.. though depending on OBS settings, than can increase hardware resource demands a little or a fair amount... just depends

Good point, " better to have locally and not be depending on the Internet to both download and upload content at the same time "

I have downloaded an 18-minute video from YouTube using a YouTube downloader. Now I need to find a video editor to clip about 3 minutes out of the 18-minute video. I plan to play the 3-minute video in the main window while I read my prayer from a little window as the music plays.

Which video editor should I use?
