macOS Screen Capture not working

I already have all the requisite permissions given, but it doesn't work if I simply open the app. It asks for permission even when I already gave it permission. One quirk is that opening it from the unix file in the contents does cause the screen to record, but it just freezes when I actually record.

it would seem that the screen capture prompt may have a recursive nature every time you drag a new OBS over the previous version. Since you did not uninstall it first, you may have to select the "-" sign (negative) under your privacy screen capture settings.

Try re-adding with the sidebar menu, Look for Applications, then OBS
