Question / Help Mac Pro 4,1 Stock video card. Window capture is just colored noise

Even if no crash or error message dialog pops up?
When i create a new, or open the properties for a window capture, or display capture, i can SEE the preview just fine. That's the ONLY i ever see what i'd expect. When i close that window, and am just looking the the 'canvas', i see the outlines of the display or window, but it's all black. No image. No colored/blocky noise. Then, if i RECORD a few moments, then stop, then play back the file, it's a mess of blocky garbage.

No change in video status, but i just checked and audio from webcam does get recorded. Video from webcam source shows up in canvas. Also i noticed that if i drag the webcam source across the canvas toward the right, after about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way it goes black.
Same with video file media source. I seem to HAVE to keep then on the upper left quadrant of the canvas.
