Question / Help Mac Pro 4,1 Build

Hello all,

I'm looking at building a switching unit with a Mac Pro 4,1 and would like some input.

Does anyone have a list of capture cards that work with OBS?

I was looking at some AJA Kona 3 SDI cards that I think will meet my needs, but wanted to see if anyone has used these yet.

I use the UTAP HDMI, haven't used the Kona but I would expect it to Just Work™.

If all you're doing is switching, you should be fine. I would not be looking to build an encoder with Mac hardware of this (or, to be honest, any vintage) given the lack of support for NVENC/AMF.

Do you have a recommended encoder? The only one I've ever used is the Blackmagic Web Presenter, but I would prefer to start with something more budget friendly.

For the Mac? No, not really. On Windows I use a 1660Ti because it's one of the cheaper ways of getting access to a Turing chip.

Other options I could suggest would be something like the AJA HELO but I think that's more expensive than the Web Presenter.
