I’m not using the canon EOS utility but have a canon camera (G7X-iii). I’m using a black magic ultra studio mini as a capture card and then running I’m the appropriate cables to make it all work.

if you’re going to use the EOS utility then I suspect you’d use OBS’s Window Capture as opposed to a video capture.

that said, I’d also suspect the canon EOS utility to be quite laggy.

yes im using the window capture and the lag is crazy im trying to adjust settings to compensate but dont seem to be finding the right combo. i i did have access to a macbook pro with high sierra and it worked there still laggy, but im finding my imac with catalina just wont pick up the camera, im trying to roll back now on it. im using my macs at home to test this setup before i use it at a different location. there i will be using PC and windows software so i may just wait till later today when i have access there.

I’d recomend one of these

you will also need a thunderbolt 2 cable to your Mac ... and if you’re Mac has all USBC or Thunderbolt 3 connectors you’ll need an adaptor from Apple. Not a cheap solution but it works. You could also try the Elgato HD60.

I am using an older camera because that is what I have access to. Rebel T2i running EOS Utility 2 as that is the highest software version available for that camera. Everything worked fine on OS X Mojave but now that I have updated to Catalina, OBS does not see the Window Capture Feed for the camera. In fact nothing in EOS Utility shows up despite the fact that it is running.

Are my camera and software too old to work with OBS on Catalina? Do I have any options here or do I have to acquire a new camera?
