MAC OBS, detect logfile question

I've been trying to analyse video footage of traffic (realise not the main use of OBS). The detect plugin works great on screen, highlights each sort of vehicle. However the detect log only seems to contain one event at a time and if no detects in last second or so is null. Is this intended behaviour? I wanted to collate numbers and times and also screen snapshot of each event. For that i can assign a hotkey but no way on Mac version to assign an action from the detect filter (I've read it's available on windows version though).. I've been messing with python scripts etc but would like to keep it simple as possible.. apologies for rambling on...
