Hello OBS Forums,

So I'm having an extreme difficult time trying to actually livestream with obs. So basically what I have is a Mac and el gato. What i do is I use window capture to show the elgato and zoom in to show the game screen. Am i suppost to use display capture or something? I've tried everything i lowered my settings and all but stayed the same.

Syphon support was just added top OBS Multiplatform in 0.6.1, Try using Syphon to inject the Elgato software to capture the output.

How exactly do I use syphon? Its kind of confusing I'm not sure how to set it up. I just want my el gato to show up on obs

Syphon doesn't work with the Elgato Game Capture HD software. Personally, I just use window capture for the game screen and it works well with 720p screen dimensions. Alternatively, you could obtain Elgato's EyeTV software, select "Syphon" as a source, and Syphon Inject EyeTV.

I'm fairly certain that Syphon with SyphonInject should work, though I can't confirm. I believe Jim tested that specifically, though I could be misremembering.

@Soo, the basic idea is that you run the Elgato program like normal, and let that capture your Elgato. The in OBS, add a Syphon source, check the "Inject" box, select the Elgato application from the list, and then hopefully an Elgato source should appear in the Syphon sources list. If that doesn't work, you can try instead pressing the Launch SyphonInject button, selecting the Elgato program, and press Inject, then in the OBS Syphon source, select the injected source in the drop down. That still may not work, and like I said, I can't really try it myself to confirm or deny.

SyphonInject doesn't identify the Game Capture HD as a viable application. I remember reading that it had something to do with the software not using OpenGL or something of that sort. I tried it prior to the OBS 0.6.1 release on Mac and tried it again with the new release, but to no avail.

However, it does work with Elgato's EyeTV if Syphon is really desired for use with the game capture device.
