Question / Help Low Volume from Sound Board

Live streaming my church's Sunday services through OBS and Facebook Live.

I connected our sound board (that runs the sound for the praise team) through the soundboard headphone port into an audio interface (Scarlett2i2) into OBS.

When live streaming, the audio comes out low on the viewer's end. I've turned up the db & gain through OBS but the sound begins to distort when the praise team begins to play.

Goal is to get a cleaner, louder sound.

I had similar issues. Volume was too low with the pastor talking, and would distort and clip with praise team. I added a compression filter to the soundboard input and increased output gain. I also experimented with adding a gain filter prior to the compression filter.

Compression is your friend here - the dynamic range of people being very quiet then suddenly very loud needs to be squished together with a compressor.
