Hey all,

So my neigbour boy was recording Minecraft on my pc and I've mentioned that the recording is not sharp and it looks like you look through a dirty window.
Does anyone knows how to fix it? The recordings seem to stay like that even if I put my bitrate to around 4.5k what should totally be enough for 1080p.

One of his videos (some parts are ok but there are times it gets awefull) (watch it fullscreen to fully see what I mean)

CPU: i5 6500
Hard drive: 1tb 7200rpm seagate
RAM: 2*4gb Crucial 2133mhz

It would help to know what your OBS recording settings are set to... But off the top of my head, if you're using the x264 encoder (advanced), look at the CPU Usage preset. The "slower" you set the CPU usage to, the higher the image quality will be, however the tradeoff is that your CPU usage will climb. Try to keep it at around 60%-70% and you should be fine.

If you are just recording it's worth starting out with the Output Mode set to Simple and then choosing one of the options there, maybe start at High Quality and see if your CPU can take it. The advantage of using this method is that the bitrate is managed by OBS (x264) instead of you capping it. It just depends if your CPU can handle it

Also make sure your recording and minecraft use the same resolution, if you downscale or upscale the input a quality degradation is quite normal. A log file will definitely tell us a bit more.
