Question / Help Lost all settings after upgrade

I noticed my OBS was up-to-date for a long time, so I checked the website and of course found I needed to download the latest version.
Your settings and data will not be affected by installing over your existing installation. Please be sure to update if you are on 21.1.0!

I've just finished the install (I did not uninstall anything) and all my settings are gone, including my Sources.

Please assist.

[EDIT] Reviewing my software, I now seem to have Open Broadcaster Software (the old one) and OBS Studio installed. So both remain installed. Wasn't the download suppose to upgrade me instead of installing a second piece of software? In addition, it appears to be sitting in the same folder as the old software and this concerns me.

OBS Classic Scenes and OBS Studio Scenes are not compatible as far as I'm aware. If you were using Classic and just installed Studio you will need to setup your scenes again.

You post wasn't very clear in which version you had originally or which version you installed

I had no idea there were separate products.

The homepage says "Open Broadcaster Software", so that confuses me a bit considering the download gets you Studio. This is what I've been using (Open Broadcaster Software), v0.659b (no updates available when I try auto-update, so I had thought the homepage banner applied to my situation).

The first download button on the homepage (under "OBS Studio") is what I downloaded. I see no other download there at least. I made the assumption the product was just renamed and they weren't separate products.

It looks like I didn't do enough reading, but my OBS didn't indicate any type of migration or new product I should be moving to.

Welcome to the future! There is a tool to migrate your OBS Classic data to OBS Studio right here.
(@DEDRICK in the future, please point users switching from Classic to Studio to that tool.)

The OBS Studio installer does not, by default, install to the same folder as OBS (OBS Classic). It would only do that if you asked the installer to do that.

OBS Classic has not been supported in nearly two years. It also hasn't received any updates since August 2016, and it hasn't received any substantive updates for longer than that. While we can't stop you from using OBS Classic if you want to, we no longer provide support or maintenance for it.
