Looking for a way to record with alpha transparency

Hello!

I'm looking for a way to record locally from OBS with alpha transparency. I am trying to get a recording of some things that are activated by browser sources, so I can't recreate the situation in something like premiere or davinci. Are there settings or a plugin that will allow this to be possible?

Thanks!

What does that mean?

Do you want the output file to be transparent? Some formats probably do support that, but I don't know of any off-hand.

Do you want a source to be transparent so that you can combine it with something else in OBS? For that, there's the Chroma Key filter.

What does that mean? I'm drawing a complete blank.

Alpha transparency essentially means that if I play a source (such as an animated emote) on a blank background in OBS and record it, the blank background will be transparent, but the emote will still be there. Without alpha, the background will be black.

A browser source is used to play something browser based in OBS such as from websites like Streamelements.

Where?!?
In the output file? Again, I don't know of any video file format that supports transparency, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.
Still in OBS, for use in OBS? For that, there's the Chroma Key filter.

I know that part. What do they activate, as you mentioned before?

I need this as well.

There are a number of people, like me, who are just creating very short video files (1second or so) which we use for animated tokens to drop on VTT games. We often record the video of our “token” from a software like Dungeon Alchemist, where we can put a green object underneath it, then video snip it. Then we have a Mp4 file that we want to chroma key back out to some other format, like Webm, retaining its chroma key created transparency.

OBS has a great chroma key, but can only “record” back out to MP4 which loses the Alpha channel.

Any other OBS options?
