Hey guys,
Im looking for an streaming PC to stream on x264 on slow.
So i know that i dont need a good gpu in it. I think im fine with a gtx 1030. All i need is a graphic card that can show me a picture right? :D
So which CPU should i get to be able to stream on slow? Currently i have an pc with a 8700k that gets like 85% cpu usage when using slow preset. So i think a 2700X might be an good option. But the price is high. So which CPU would you guys recommend to stream on slow 1080p?

Also what else is important for an Streaming PC to deliver good quality besides CPU? How much ram do i need etc...

Would recommend either an AMD Threadripper 1920X or Intel Xeon E5-2630 V4 Threadripper is a bit easier for personal use and HEDT Intel CPUs prices are by far beyond what they supposed to be.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 with an moderate OC costs less and pretty much offers the same performance as the 2700X, but if you arent into overclocking or anything like that then going with a 2700X and leaving everything on default will obviously provide better results.

RAM doesnt really matter as long as its fast and has low timings and possibly with samsung memory but there is RAM labled for Ryzen Systems to provide better compatibility 3000MHz/CL14 or 3200MHz/CL15 is what I would aim for. And if you plan on doing anything else besides streaming with that System I would recommend at least 8GB RAM.

For the GPU getting an old GTX 750ti is imo better than buying an GT 1030 (there is no GTX 1030) if possible I would even aim for an GTX 1050.

Get a small SSD 120GB should be sufficient.

Keep in mind the slow preset is really taxing on the CPU so theres a possibiligy that even an 2700X with 8C/17T is not enough to encode 1080p60 at slow preset. (I assume you want to stream with 60FPS)

I wouldn't suggest streaming at 1080 and such a high bit rate unless you're a partner. As far as CPU goes, intel just announced a new chip that should be able to handle what you're asking for.

Just as a heads up, the quality difference going to a preset slower than "medium" isn't worth the increased CPU time by a long shot unless you're dealing with post-processing where frames don't need to be out in the 16-33ms window that streaming typically needs.

I could also aim for an 2600 (110€ less then 2700).. 2 Cores less so -25% perfomance. This CPU should be enough to handle medium. The 2700 should be enough handling slow. atleast thats my expections cause my 8700k had 85% on slow and a 2700X should be on 80%. U really think people wont notice a diffrence between medium and slow preset?

Very likely not. If you're streaming to twitch, you should also avoid 1080p entirely, as the bitrate limits are still a little too low for it.

I thought my 1080p60 streams were really good at 6Mbps on Medium, actually. Slow was a massive increase in CPU usage and my streaming PC couldn't do it at 1080p60.
