Question / Help Logitech C922 - Lagging live video footage to Youtube

Hey,

I have an issue with live streams which a recently purchased c922 webcam.
My live stream includes connecting ableton to OBS, and when I used the computer's internal camera there was no issue.
When I plug in the c922, and check everything works then the video seems ok, but when I start streaming, both the video in OBS is laggy and the final video on Youtube.

Please advise me what I should do regarding this, because I'm not sure if this is a configuration issue that I can handle inside of the OBS or an internet connection issue. (although previous streams were ok, and Audio is ok)

Assuming it is a configuration thing, what am I missing here?

Examples:

With the c922 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgZhUDinvu8

With internal cam not laggy (don't mind the audio issue in intro) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsfFg2fRR5o

Thanks!

Try downgrading. You're using Mavericks 10.9, I doubt versions of OBS as new as 19.x are being tested on it.

Hey thanks for the answer!
Well what I did currently is just lower the quality to 480p, and the stream goes fine, I think it's more of an internet issue, my upload speed is less than 5mb. Or you think it should still be able to do it normally with this upload speed and the OBS version is the issue?

5 up is borderline, especially since you're probably not actually getting that to a service.

Your logfile doesn't seem to include a streaming attempt so it's hard to say.

I'll try to get a log next time I stream.

I also checked what happens to the video source from the logitech c922 when I just record, without streaming.
It seems the image still get a bit laggy the higher I put the resolution... And again when I stream only that source is laggy, my audio and screen display are fine. It leads me to think my issue is either with how my computer processes the camera's video, or what you mentioned earlier, perhaps the OBS version is not matching with mavericks.. so which version should I use?

Btw thanks a lot for helping!

Hey, log from last session. I've listened to your advice and downgraded to 18.0.1

This is my current configuration:

C922 Resolution: 1280x720
Simple FPS values: 30

Input format:
MJPEG - JPEG Open DML
Color space: Rec: 709
Video Range: Partial

Output

Video Bitrate 2000
Audio Bitrate 160

Video

Base resolution: 1280x800
output resolution:1280x800
Downscale filter: bicubic
Common fps values: 30

Seems to be working better than before, although it feels a bit unstable and frames are still dropping a bit - the more i put load on the computer it will get more stuck.. So asking now if there are other things I could configure better.

1. Should i use the buffering option in the camera input format, what does it do?
2. I don’t have normal output resolution the fits the camera, so it adds black sides to my output video on youtube.. I can live with that, but wonder if there is a way I could fix that.

Thanks!
