So I have recently made a Thread where i was asking about the OBS log and how it can help pinpoint lost frames and such - this was partially related to some gameplay footage I am making. I am still using a lossless codec because it seems to give the best results, but i was advised by Koala that this option doesn't give in-depth information in the log. I have tried other options as well (Advanced Mode, NVIDIA HVENC and also X264, i've tried all kinds of combinations). Basically this is my issue and my question, although i might describe it somewhat improperly due to a complete lack of proper programmer experience and therefore, terminology.
The game that i am playing and recording (this might be relevant because it's an old, buggy game built on an unstable engine) is called S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl. When i am playing it, every frame that i see on the monitor is for the most part good, the "transition" from frame to frame is fluid, very smooth. I am recording on 60 FPS and in Lossless quality, and everytime when i finish the OBS session i check all the stats. Depending on the recording settings that i chose, sometimes there is no frame loss at all, sometimes it could be around 0.1-0.2%. However, this is where my question kicks in. Despite supposedly having no frame loss, the recorded video itself just doesn't feel as smooth as what you experience in the game. I can pretty much see in the video that there is no frame loss (at least not something that the eye can easily distinguish as frame loss) , frames aren't skipping per se, but the "transition" from frame to frame feels very snappy, kind of jerky, no way as smooth as it feels in game. So my question is: Is this preventable in OBS studio or am i just being very very picky? I've done quite a bit of googling and people generally have asked these question before, but these are all either very very old questions on forums that had no concrete answers, either the discussion just trailed off into the wrong field entirely. I was reading about monitor refresh rates, vertical synchronization and so forth, but at the end, i have not managed to do anything in regards to this. I've tried playing in 165hz, on 60hz, nothing actually affects the recording (and i doubt that it would, since the monitor refresh rate does not affect recordings?)
Maybe someone else here had encountered this before, your advice would be invaluable and extremely appreciated, especially if i can get my issue resolved. And here is a log of last session.
