Hey there all, just looking for abit of advice/help with local recording and Nvenc.
I've been using OBS for local recordings for awhile now using the Nvenc encoder built in on my 1070. I was just looking for some clarity on an issue I've been having, with the following settings i've been seeing OBS use around 23% CPU usage and that's just terrifying :P
CBR, 130,000mbps, default preset, high profile, auto level. (gives me cpu usage of 20-25%)
I tried out the lossless preset built into OBS and my cpu usage dropped down to 10% area and the file output had a mbps of around 30 (although it was just a game splash screen)
I guess my question is... if the nvenc encoder is meant to be doing the heavy lifting then why is cpu usage increasing depending on the preset? Also is the lossless preset 100% lossless? i.e is it better to use the lossless preset than use CBR and set the bit rate at the 1070's max of 130,000mbps?
I'm attaching a log file from a quick run at the 130MBps settings
