Question / Help Local File Vs Browser In Terms of CPU Use

I've being using stream elements for awhile now but now my stream pc is starting to show its age. I have all my animated overlays coming from a browser source I made in stream elements. As I've seen in the past, animated browser sources use more cpu. If I unload these sources and make obs studio grab each file from local, is it less cpu intensive? I'm guessing the hard drive will take a beating everytime I ask it to use and loop certain files with multiple scenes. My last resort will be to use less scenes and less overlays if I cant resolve this issue.

Static images will be less intensive when done locally.
The most recent version of OBS is able to hardware accelerate browser sources (provided you don't break the install by installing the streamelements obs.live plugin) which can reduce CPU load at the cost of a slight increase in GPU load.
