Hello all.
UPDATE: Google to the rescue. Seems Firewire IEEE 1394 is supported by Linux whereas it's been dropped by other OS platforms, most notably Windows. I'm going to try and see if I can hook up my video cameras to my computer via FW and see if they connect. If so, hot digitty dawg, I am miles ahead on my project without having to spend a ton of $$.
I'm hoping I can setup a multi-camera shoot with OBS and start rocking some live streaming on FB and YT.
Will keep you all posted, stay tuned!
Cheers from Canada,
Eros

The OBS noob is back at it again.
OK, I'm on Linux for OBS (LinuxMint 17.2 = Ubuntu 14.04) and I'm wondering if one could hook up a camera via 1394 firewire and use it as a source?
Has anyone had success with using firewire peripherals under Linux? If I can use that it would save me a few hundred dollars for a blackmagic card.
