Hello all,
Been using OBS for around six months using Advanced Mode, recoding gameplay on H.265, CQP 20 and it's been totally fine. Upgraded AMD drivers the other week to V22 and Advanced Mode no longer works and gets stuck on 'Stopping Recording' every time. Same thing happens with the newer AMD version v23 and have seen others starting to mention the same on Reddit.
The only method that works now on OBS on the latest drivers for me is using Simple Mode, either H.264 or H.265. Switching to Advanced Mode and changing the output settings seems to always result in 'Stopping Recording' no matter the setting. Reverting back to previous drivers such as 22.11.2 or 22.5.1, Advanced Mode works again as does CQP recordings. I have tried reinstalling OBS and the drivers multiple times, same result until reverting back to a previous driver.
I would post log report but it shows nothing, no errors or encoder overload, ends at it creating the file and nothing more, no file created. Assuming it's because I have to kill it in task manager but it will sit there for hours if not. What I generally do is make sure the recording starts and stops by running it without the game open and it has always created a blank file so I know it works. It does this now using Simple Mode but using Advanced it gets stuck. Previously I could under Advanced using CQP do the same, record a blank screen to make sure it starts and stops but it no longer does and sticks every time, can only use Simple Mode.
Assuming this is a driver issue but wanted to check it's not something else and whether it's been noticed by others. Everything else I have seen regarding this points to encoder overload but it obviously doesn't state that as I'm having to kill the process. Would this be the case if it allowed me to record at CQP on previous driver versions?
5600X + 6700XT, 3200 16GB, recording at 1080p, 60fps.
OBS v29.0.2
