Latency and ping increase when opening OBS (not even streaming or recording)

Ive been trying to stream with OBS, not familiar with any of it but already did some research for settings and such (single pc stream).
Whenever i open OBS and i play a game:
1) the ping and latency go up
2) the game just gets "scratchy" or laggy, i don't really know how to put it in one word. When running i slow down for a brief moment (blink of an eye) all of the time. So when running i slow down all of the time. Laggy might be the better word for that. I would have said "like a miniscule rubber band" but its not like im resetting to a previous position when running. (sorry if this is a bad explanation)

So i open OBS (im not even streaming or recording) and i get this problem. I'm assuming OBS is eating away at something on my pc but i have no idea what.


My pc has
cpu: i7-8700K (not overclocked)
gpu: gtx 1080ti
My internet connection has
275 Mbps download and
2.7 Mbps upload

Ive been trying to find an answer for my problem but all of the youtube clips or webpages i find don't provide me with an answer or a solution. I was hoping i could find some answers in this forum. If you need more information of my OBS settings please let me know and i will reply ASAP.

Your upload speed is too slow.

And your experience says: not enough for game + broadcast.

The formula for a good transmission:
- check game requirements (upload and download)
- subtract from your link speed, subtract 15% more, what will remain is your maximum upload speed. eg YT requires 4.5Mb / s for 1080p

Learn to use Task Manager/Resource Monitor... most likely, you are running out of RAM and/or CPU [overloaded the PC]
