I'm noticing that when I stream or record using QuickSync, my laptop will sometimes completely freeze, requiring a hard reset. If any sound was playing, it will keep playing the last 50 ms or so of sound, in a loop, creating a buzzing tone. Basically it's like a BSOD (blue screen of death).
My laptop specs are:
Acer Aspire V3-572PG (2014 model)
Intel Core i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 840M
8GB RAM
I use QuickSync because the software x264 encoder is probably too much for my system, and unfortunately my GPU doesn't support NVENC. It actually works quite well before it crashes. I use a capture device that outputs 480p max, and can record 60fps @ 720p pretty well.
I tried updating my Intel drivers, even the chipset/BIOS things, but the issue remains. Not sure if a OBS log would help since the computer crashes before it could save anything?
Not sure if its a software issue or hardware. Any ideas?
