Laggy PS5 Recordings in 4k, 60FPS.

Okay, here we go.

I have a problem. I'm currently trying (and failing) to record gameplay on my PS5 with a Zasluke Capture Card (cheap, found off of Amazon), and the recording is choppy and laggy.

Now here's the thing. I know that OBS does not accept HDR, and naturally, the PS5 has HDR set to ON automatically, so the colors looked washed out. I checked again and again, and concluded that strangely, although the colors look terrible with the PS5 HDR setting on, there is no lag. However, once the HDR setting has been switched off from the PS5, the colors are perfect, BUT the lag and choppiness is there. I really don't understand why OBS is reacting this way, since I thought I had eliminated all of the issues that should have slowed OBS down.

My computer is pretty stacked, and I have a pretty good monitor, so why is this happening? I do not know.

Computer Specifics :
Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
Graphics Card : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
Monitor : Dell S3220DGF
PC : Alienware Aurora R11

OBS Settings :
Canvas Resolutions : 3840x2160
Downscale Filter : Lanczos, 36 Samples
FPS Value : 60FPS
and here's a photo of the Advanced Output Recording Settings :
OBS 27.0.1 (64-bit, windows) - Profile_ Untitled - Scenes_ Untitled 9_23_2021 8_36_57 PM.png

Log File :

I've already gone into OBS' discord server to chat it up with a few of the helpers there, and they checked the Log file for themselves, and could not find what was going wrong, since the log file didn't indicate that anything was wrong.

Anywho, if ANYONE thinks they might have an idea of what's going wrong, please do not hesitate to respond or ask for more details so that we can get to the bottom of this. I really appreciate the help.

Later,
supersiyan.

1. Run OBS as Admin. Right click on the shortcut, properties, advanced, check box, ok, apply, ok.
2. In OBS, go to "Settings -> Advanced" and set "YUV Color Range" back to "Partial".
3. Record to MKV. If you record to MP4 or MOV and the recording is interrupted, the file will be corrupted and unrecoverable.

If you require MP4 files for some other purpose like editing, remux them afterwards by selecting File > Remux Recordings in the main OBS Studio window or enable Auto Remux in the Advanced Settings.
4. Change the Preset to Quality.
5. It's generally recommended to record with Rate Control CQP where you pick a quality level instead of bitrate. The higher the number, the lower the quality.
6. On your Zasluke Capture Card, set the Color Space to 709 and Range to Partial.

When you switched to "Max Quality" for your nvenc settings, that's when you encountered severe encoding lag. Max quality uses CUDA acceleration for 2-pass encoding, which could be overloading your GPU, especially for 4k60 encoding.

Set this back to "Quality".
