Hello,
I currently have 2 PC stream setup. Here are my specs and I will explain the issues I was having below.
Gaming Rig
i7 4770k (OC to 4.6)
ASUS Z87 Sabertooth TUF mobo
16GB DDR3
Zotac AMP! GTX 1080
Main monitor - 165hz Asus PG279Q ROG Swift
Secondary Monitor - 60hz Asus IPS
Stream PC
i5 4670k
8GB Gskill DDR3 Ram
Using the processor GPU
Elgato HD60 Pro
So I was sending my video over to my stream PC through HDMI to the Elgato HD60 Pro capture card. Stream performs great other than some serious tearing. I'm pretty sure that this is because I am running my game monitor at 165hz and then it is trying to send signal to the 2nd PC which the capture card is only running 60hz. I've tried turning vsync on which didn't fix the problem.
I ran across a video that shows people using OBS projector mode to send the signal to the 3rd display (which isn't actually a monitor but is my Elgato running on the stream PC). When I use this process, I open OBS on the gaming PC. Add a game capture source and then right click the preview and choose Fullscreen Preview - Display 2 (The Elgato). I never actually hit stream from this gaming PC - it is just projecting the image over to my capture card.
On the 2nd PC I then open OBS, add video capture device and select Elgato HD60 Pro. Image shows up and then hit stream.
This works great and all and the actual gaming PC OBS shows like 2% CPU usage but once I go back into game and start playing it feels horribly sluggish. Usually get around 80-100 FPS depending where I am in Player Unknown Battlegrounds but while projecting the image to the capture card It will stay around 60 which is fine but there is always a terribly sluggish feel and it's hard to even aim.
I know that there used to be a little box that you can tick that said "disable encoding for preview" or something to that effect. I don't see that option anywhere in OBS 19.0.2. I also notice that if I scroll over OBS on my taskbar I can see the OBS app and also the projection.
Sorry for the long drawn out explanation - Been messing with this for about 2 weeks now trying to optimize my stream but just can't figure it out. Thanks for any help you can provide!
