Question / Help Lag When I Use OBS

I like to record Minecraft gameplay. I get on average 100-200 fps, however when I have OBS open and it’s not even recording, my fps seems to stay the same. However it lags the game, not too much, but it makes it hard for me to play the game. When I record with xbox default recorder (or whatever it’s called), it’s perfectly fine. Therefore, I’m assuming it’s something with OBS. Can anyone help?

OBS is not a pure screen recorder, it is a video switcher and compositor. As such, it uses GPU resources that screen recorders like ShadowPlay does not. If you run games with no framerate cap, you will always see a reduction when opening OBS (even when OBS is not recording or streaming). OBS is not intended for making extremely high frame rate recordings.

I guess it’s not a problem with OBS, but that my computer can not run games at high fps when OBS is open. Is there a way to minimize this problem?
