Question / Help Lag Spikes (all of a sudden)

Hi all,

So, I don't know if I just wasn't noticing it before or what, but all of a sudden I'm noticing a major performance hit while streaming. While running around in-game, I'm seeing FPS hits of 10 frames or more every few seconds. The stream itself reflects this with a frozen screen or severe lag, although viewers can hear me. I've done everything I can so far... I've lowered bitrate and resolution and CPU usage preset to the lowest settings, all to no avail.

That helped quite a lot. Watching the stream, it's still stuttering... but while in the game the lag spikes are pretty much gone. Any idea what's wrong with my webcam or how to fix the issue? I just got it last week... ugh.

I have heard rumors of Logitech webcams causing troubles. I myself have a c920, and it will sometimes not work, unplugging / replugging solves it for me. Then restarting OBS after that.
This only happens to me when i restart my PC, nowadays I just keep it running 24/7.

I've noticed that too, unplugging/replugging makes my cam show up, but it was showing up when I took that log file. I guess I should have restarted OBS after. Bizarre.

Thanks though. Just have to figure out why the viewer is seeing a laggy stream.

Looking further into your log file shows me this:
"Output 'adv_stream': Number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 9498 (40.7%)"

Can you upload a log file of you streaming with your webcam unplugged, so I know that is not a factor here.
If it remains the same, that will be your issue causing the laggy stream.
