I'm on a mild computer and have LOTS of lag. Other recorders don't have this much but i NEED to facecam.

DETAILS:

Ubuntu GNOME 15.10
Intel Core 2 Duo (It's probably the problem)
NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS
When recording the preview window looks fine in OBS and Minecraft FPS is upwards 40. Usually 70-110FPS.

When you say lag, are you referring to high latency in mouse input?

If so, that is more likely to come down to graphics memory bandwidth*, rather than CPU, especially if you are maintaining decent frame rates and the preview window still appears reasonably smooth.

But yeah, your entire system is old and underpowered for the task of streaming in general, as well.


*This is the conclusion I have come to after running numerous tests involving changing a variety of parameters, clock speeds, etc., as well as my video card, while attempting to capture a game running on a 4k monitor.

That GPU is also not doing you any favors, as well. It's probably a pretty big bottleneck.
