I'm just starting to try OBS and I haven't been able to figure out how to record because I only ever see the black screen. I have tried doing the Windows 1909 update solution and the older solution in the laptop guide, but have not been successful. I am trying to do a window capture of Google Chrome.

To perform window capture in Chrome, turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome.

Another workaround is display capture, but for that it is necessary for OBS to run on your Intel GPU. Currently you're running on the Nvidia card:

01:20:09.448: Adapter 0: NVIDIA GeForce MX150
01:20:09.448: Dedicated VRAM: 2111569920
01:20:09.448: Shared VRAM: 4230596608
01:20:09.448: output 0: pos={0, 0}, size={1920, 1080}, attached=true
01:20:09.448: Adapter 1: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620
01:20:09.449: Dedicated VRAM: 134217728
01:20:09.449: Shared VRAM: 4230596608
01:20:09.452: Loading up D3D11 on adapter NVIDIA GeForce MX150 (0)

Prior to the 1909 update, this change was made in the Nvidia Control Panel.

After 1909, it is made in the Windows display settings.

Chrome can only be captured either with Display capture or with Window capture by disabling hardware acceleration within the Chrome settings.

Thank you! Turning off the hardware acceleration worked.
