Hi Guys,
First time posting here so do let me know if I miss anything. I've been streaming youth hockey games for my kids team but have been having a major issue with the sound recently. I'm using two cameras - one for following the play, and the other for the PIP score clock. Both cameras have a sample rate 48,000, and show the same in the windows settings, and I have OBS set to 48,000khz also. However, when I look at the log (attached) I see that the camera following the play (this is the one my commentators lavalier mic is plugged in to) get's changed to 44,100khz by OBS, and I don't understand why, nor how to force it not to do this, as I suspect this is causing the choppy sounding audio. I should also point out that this affects both the livestream, and the OBS recording, however the lavalier mic audio recorded to the SD card in my gameplay cam is perfect.
I'm using a Cam Link 4k for this gameplay cam, and an Elgato Game Capture HD for the PIP. I've tried a whole bunch of things to trouble shoot:
- Adjusting the resolution of the PIP capture from 1080p60 down to 480p60
- Moving the USB Capture card to a 3.0 port on the other side of my laptop so that the two are (hopefully) on a different bus
- Changing OBS to 44,100
- Changing OBS to 44,100, then restarting, changing back to 48,000 then restarting
- Attempted to adjust the capture card audio settings in advanced properties, but both capture devices have the sample rate settings greyed out and I cannot adjust.
We have a really important game coming up and I'm keen to get this audio issue fixed, and I'm kind of at the end of my sanity here. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Do you also think the mismatched sample rates are causing this or should I be looking elsewhere for the solution?
Also, I really want to say thank you to this community for the amazing work, resources, and plugins. I have been able to learn and put this together in a matter of a few months thanks to you all. The kids, and especially the families that are unable to attend these games currently due to the pandemic - reeeeaaally appreciate it!
Okay, here's a link to the audio so you can hear it: https://youtu.be/3r5BoEyxwgo?t=189
Thank you!
Andy
