Okay so, I'm running gtx 470, two Xeon X5460 processors.
I am live streaming church services to youtube. I have 50000 - 60000 Kbps download and 10000-12000 Kbps of upload.
I am streaming at 720P using an Elgato capture device.
I've tried all kinds of setting. I've tried streaming VBR at 4500 Kpbs with faster preset, but it looks terrible. I've tried CRF 23 with faster preset but still looks bad.
So then I decided to try streaming at 4500, but record locally at 8000 Kpbs or 12 CRF at veryfast preset and then upload that. It still looks bad but better than the stream. And because youtube compression sucks.... It looked exactly like the 4500 stream.
Even locally at double the Kpbs. 8000!!! It still looks terrible compared to the preview window in OBS. How can I get it to look even close to the preview without insane file sizes. At 8000 Kpbs around 2 hours is 6-7 Gb which I can deal with.
Any advice on OBS settings and youtube compression?
