Question / Help It aint working

I just installed OBS, having left it some years ago, and it aint working.
Its fine loading up, two screens, files etc, but when I start to record or stream nothing happens, apart from the camera lights up and wont go off until I close the thing down. and the two screens are blank all the time. I've changed the file from a LVB-summat to mp4 but as yet it still wont work.
Any ideas please?

OK. So I've turned off the MPG and reverted back to FLV, but I dont know how to switch off studio mode.
Call it stupid but Im really starting from scratch but Im a tryer so I'll keep on going until I get it.
So, please, How do I switch off the studio mode.

Clicking the "studio mode" button turns studio mode on and off (switches between studio mode, with separate Preview and Program windows with a Transition button, and "hot switcher" mode, with only a single Program screen).
